Julie AskewJulie Askew is a retired professional in the field of Computer Science, a grandmother of three, and an avid reader and traveler.
After receiving BS and MS degrees as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Emory University, Julie worked for almost twenty years as a computer programmer and Systems Engineer, mostly with IBM and C&S Bank.
As the high school graduation of her daughter and only child grew near and knowing she would greatly miss the daily association with young people, Julie decided to leave the corporate world and begin a career in education.
She taught Computer Science in the Upper School at Woodward Academy and was chairman of that department when she retired four years ago after twenty-one years in the classroom.
Julie is currently a resident of College Park and an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma (a professional honor society of women educators), the College Park Woman’s Club, two book groups and College Park First United Methodist ChurchIn Memoriam
Lawrence Clifford “Cliff” Thompson Jr.
Our friend Cliff died March 22nd at the age of 91. Mr. Thompson , active in Real Estate, was former Chairman of the Board of The Arlington School. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII. Cliff was active in Kiwanis since 1964, with memberships in the West End Club, the Capital Area Club, the South Fulton Club . He has been a member of the Airport Area Club since 1995.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Supe Thompson and is survived by his two daughters, one son, grandchildren and one great grand-daughter. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 25, at the Graveside, Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.
